Questions before you ride

How do I rent an e-bike?

Pick the date and time you'd like to ride, then choose your bikes and add them to your cart. Open the cart, click checkout and follow the steps. You'll choose your starting location from a drop-down.

For a custom address delivery, choose Custom Delivery from the drop-down and fill out the delivery details.

Where are you located?

Smitty's E-Bikes is a mobile e-bike dealer, rental and repair service. We don't have a retail storefront. We deliver to you, or you're welcome to pick up your bikes from one of our designated pickup points.

What are your rental hours?

Rentals run 8am to 6pm, six days a week. You choose your pickup and delivery times when you book. We'll always do our best to match them, but times are subject to availability.

Are there age limits?

Yes. These limits are set by our insurance provider:
• You must be 18 or older to rent. The person who books and signs for the rental must be at least 18.
• Every rider must be at least 16. Riders who are 16 or 17 must ride with an adult, and a parent or legal guardian must sign their waiver.

We can't rent to riders under 16.

How big a group can you handle?

Groups of up to 12 riders. For bigger groups we simply bring a second vehicle, so book all the bikes you need in one order.

Riding solo? Single-bike deliveries to a custom address have a 3-day minimum. We're also happy to meet single riders at Foothills Aquatic Center for e-bike demos and single 2- or 4-hour rides.

What can I expect on my self-guided ride?

We meet you at your ride location 15 to 20 minutes before your start time so everything is ready when you arrive. We'll go over how the e-bikes work and best riding practices, and fit you with a helmet.

Then you're free to follow our suggested routes or explore on your own. We'll be back at the pickup spot about 15 minutes before your rental ends. If you're finishing early or running a few minutes late, call us at (602) 320-6094.

How physically fit do I need to be?

Fitness matters much less on an e-bike than on a regular bike. If you can ride a regular bicycle and have good balance and coordination, you can ride our e-bikes. We give you time to practice at every drop-off location, and if you're not comfortable riding, we'll refund you 100%.

How fast do your e-bikes go?

We rent a variety of bikes. Most will reach 25 mph without pedaling.

Can I run out of battery during my ride?

It's unlikely, but possible. Using only the throttle drains the battery fastest. Pedal like a regular bike and pick the assist level that feels comfortable, and you'll go much farther on a charge.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give us at least 48 hours' notice so we can offer the bikes to other riders. Cancellations less than 24 hours before your ride are not refunded. Call or email us as soon as you know you can't make it.

If weather cancels your ride, we'll reschedule you or give you a full refund.

How far in advance do I need to book?

We recommend booking online at least 12 hours ahead. We do take same-day rentals by phone at (602) 320-6094, but not after 12 PM.

What happens if I damage the e-bike?

Normal wear and tear is expected. If the bike is damaged beyond normal wear during your rental, the renter is responsible for the cost of repairs or replacement. Please ride responsibly, and let us know right away if anything goes wrong so we can help.
